Cassandra's Hurricane Page

A hurricane is a name for tropical cyclone.  Hurricane season begins June 1st and ends November 30.  The average number of hurricanes a year is 5-7.  It is forecasted that we will have an above-average tropical cyclone season and an above-average U.S. hurricane landfall.  Until the wind speed of a tropical cyclone reaches 39mph it is called tropical depression. Then it is called a tropical storm and assigned a name in alphabetic order.  When the winds reach 74 mph it is called a hurricane.  There are three main parts to a hurricane: an eye, eye wall, and a rain ban.
